Historic Preservation
The NYC Landmarks preservation Commission has designated more than 36,000 historic buildings and sites. Potential landmarks and historic districts are identified periodically by the Landmarks Preservation Commission through surveys and other Commission-initiated research. Commission surveys and research may include properties suggested by members of the public.
We provide services to clients with designated buildings to ensure compliance with LPC guidelines regarding interior and exterior alterations, and assist them to obtain necessary Certificates permitting such alterations.
Complex projects may require a Public Hearing, and detailed presentation to the Commission. We assist our clients with preparation and documentation to communicate proposed alterations with affected community boards and elected officials, the Department of City Planning, and the Landmarks Preservation Commission.
In construction, we assist the selected contractors and skilled craftsmen to preserve the details of components being reconstructed or replaced, to maintain the historical context of the project.
